The electricity management app Synergi SmartCharge is a platform designed to help users track their energy usage, save money and reduce their carbon footprint. The app allows users to monitor their energy consumption, set energy-saving targets, and receive alerts when they exceed their usage goals. The project team consisted of a product designer (me), developers, and founders who worked together to create an intuitive and user-friendly interface for the app.
We conducted extensive research to determine the needs and preferences of the app's target users. We analyzed data from energy companies, conducted user surveys, and studied competitor apps. From the research, we identified several key features that users would find most useful, including real-time energy monitoring, personalized usage targets, and alerts when energy usage exceeds set limits.
The UI design process began with wireframing and prototyping based on the app's information architecture. I created several low-fidelity wireframes and user flows to test the initial design concept and ensure that the app's functionality met user needs.
Next, I created high-fidelity prototypes that included visual design elements such as color, typography, and iconography. The prototypes were tested with real users to gather feedback and refine the design.
We also placed a strong emphasis on usability and accessibility and we designed the app with clear and consistent navigation, easy-to-read text, and legible typefaces. On the design we also incorporated accessibility features such as adjustable font sizes, color contrast settings, and screen reader support.
The final stage of the UI design process involved testing the app with a bit larger group of users. We conducted usability testing to ensure that the app was intuitive and easy to use. We also conducted A/B testing to compare different design variations and identify the most effective design elements.
The Synergi SmartCharge app design project was a successful one that demonstrated the importance of user-centered design in creating intuitive and effective apps. Through careful research, prototyping, and testing, we were able to create a visually appealing and user-friendly app that helps users track their energy usage, save money and reduce their carbon footprint.
The app is currently at the beta stage, and the team continues working on its development.
